I was kind of bad and indulged myself at Half-Price Books today. They're having a 20% off sale this week, so I stopped by after work today and kind of bought more than I'd planned on. Oops. Not too much more, but still more. BUT, I got a hardcover copy of Gotham Central (book two, sans dust jacket) for it so it's all good.

I also got some books and graphic novels for Christmas, so there are a lot of books lying around my room right now waiting for homes.

My Christmas haul, let me show you it.

I Am Legend - Richard Matheson
One Goal Achieved: The Inside Story of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks
The Walking Dead - vols 3 & 4
Fables - vol 2
Queen & Country: The Definitive Edition - vols 1-3
And gift cards for Barnes & Noble (so much money!!) and Borders

And from today.

The Down Home Zombie Blues, Gabriel's Ghost, and Hope's Folly - all by Linnea Sinclair (and all on the $1 clearance rack!)
Capes - vol 1
Gotham Central Book Two: Jokers and Madmen
SQUEE's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors
Ultimate X-Men vols 5 & 6

Plus, I downloaded a free book from B&N on Friday - Carved in Bone by Jefferson Bass - so I have plenty to keep my busy for a while, so I don't need to do anymore book buying for a loong long time.

And a really pretty green leather easel cover and a booklight and B&N giftcards to buy ebooks with!

It's in the kitchen charging right now, but as soon as it's ready I'm going to get it registered and hooked up to my wifi network here at the house, and get some books and READ ON MY NOOK!

I've been saving up money to get one, and had almost enough saved, so my parents just kicked in the difference and bought the cover and booklight.

Merry Christmas to me!!!

I started Wuthering Heights yesterday. It's the last book on my original reading list from 2007, when I decided to read all my unread books in alphabetical order by title. I also wanted to not buy books while doing the reading list, but wasn't very good about it in 2007-2008. In 2009 I started over at A, and now I'm at the end. Yay!

After this book is done, 2010 will be year of the series. I want to reread the Harry Potter series, as well as a few others. I also want to finish reading the Percy Jackson series (I've read the first book), and read the Dark Tower series. For all the years I've been reading Stephen King, I've never tackled Dark Tower.

I also joined the summer reading program at my library yesterday. I have to read 5 books by July 31st. Shouldn't be a problem, as long as Wuthering Heights cooperates and doesn't take forever and a day to read.

The other day I went out to my car after work and there was a postcard on my windshield. At first I thought it was just a flyer and was going to throw it away, but then I noticed that none of the other cars around me had them. Turns out it was a survey postcard from the author of this book. He'd seen my plate, liked it, and wanted to know the story behind it for his next book!! He has a website here where you can read the first book and submit your stories. I haven't had a chance to do the survey yet, but I'm totally going to!

In case anyone's curious, my plate is BAKRDS 1. I got it because I love to take road trips, and I especially like getting off the main highways and exploring the little 2-lane roads through small towns and countrysides. Not the best way to drive cross-country, obviously, so I usually reserve it for when time isn't an issue or when I'm in an area for a while. The number is only there because my state charges less for a vanity plate if there's a number in it.

Grr. Argh.

I'm giving up on The Historian. 2 weeks and 448 pages in and not a whole hell of a lot has happened, and I still have 461 pages to go! I don't think so. I have a whole lot of other books I could be reading right now instead of this time-waster.

Moving on to more light-hearted fare. Like, Love is a Many Trousered Thing by Louise Rennison, followed by Stop in the Name of Pants. Georgia Nichols is a sure-fire palette cleanser and a lightning-fast read.
