bluehwys: (Until I die)
We went bowling today for an A-Team event, out at Lucky Strike Lanes in Lombard. The MDA usually does about one bowling event a month. We get to bowl for free for a few hours, and they get $500.00 from Kohl's. It's win/win.

I bowled an 84 for my first game, which is really pretty good for me. I even got two strikes! The second game was a 74 with one strike, and the last game was 72 with one strike.

Our store manager went, as he does sometimes, and bought one of everything on the menu (it seemed) for us. He's very generous. He doesn't bowl, but he likes to go and cheer us on and buy us food, lol. And we enjoy having him there. He actually goes to most of the bowling events with us, which is great. Some store managers don't participate in the A-Team program at all.

Anyway, now I need to do an hour on the Wii Fit Plus in order to counteract all the snacks I ate, lol!

Last night we had our annual Chicks no Dicks Christmas party at Max and Erma's. There were 22 people this year. It just keeps growing and growing. The food was good but the service was terrible. And I think I ate way too much last night. I woke up out of a sound sleep at 2:45 this morning with the taste and smell of vomit in my mouth and nose. Thankfully there was nothing on the bedding, but good god. I had to get up and drink a couple glasses of water and pop a couple antacids. Ugh. Never had that happen before, and I hope to never have it happen again.

We're delivering toys today to the Brown Family Center at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. The BFC is a medical-free zone where the kids can go to play games and win prizes and just forget for a little bit that they're sick. We were there in October, and the prize closet was woefully empty. So we did a toy drive in our district (about 10 stores) to collect toys from the employees. Our collection box is overflowing! It's a wonderful thing. :)

After the drop-off, we're going to see about hitting Christkindlmarket. I hope we can, although it's supposed to be extremely cold today, so I don't know. You don't mess around with extreme tempertures in Chicago.

Leaving this morning with mom for North Carolina to visit my sister. We're driving it, of course. The Biltmore Estate has all their Christmas decorations up, I guess, so we're going to hit that again. Pam said that she was going to try and get us onto one of the candlelit tours in the evening. It sounds really nice. It was beautiful when were there earlier this year; I can't wait to see it all decorated for the holidays.

Mom's driving first because, a) her back and hip and everything are better in the morning than later in the day, and b) I was out late last night at an A-Team event on the Odyssey II at Navy Pier. It was a champagne dinner cruise for the MDA, and it was a lot of fun. We got to dress up and get all fancy, lol. The store was having a beauty event that day, with Kathy Snyder, so a few of us got our make-up done at work.

The food was excellent, there was dancing, a silent auction (I bid on a Kate Spade bag. Don't think I got it, though), cocktails, and a wine pull.

I think I only got a few hours of sleep last night. Ugh. But it was worth it because we had a blast. Can't wait to see the pictures, lol. A couple of the younger girls were going out after, and if I didn't have to leave at the butt-crack of dawn this morning, I would have gone with. Oh well.

Gotta go pack the cooler and load up the car.

I'm volunteering today at the Special Olympics regional bowling tournament up in Addison. It's almost an hour away, but hopefully it'll be worth it. It's a Special Olympics weekend apparently, because Friday night we (the A-Team) helped the Countryside Police with their annual Cops and Tables Special Olympics fundraiser. Which, by the way, was a lot of fun. We are defintely doing that one again next year.

My sister and b.i.l. are in town this weekend, so I'm not staying for the entire event today because I'd like to spend some time with them. We have enough enough people volunteering, though, that I don't feel bad about leaving early.
