District 9
Aug. 19th, 2009 03:08 pmGod, what a depressing movie. 2 hours of brutal beatings and shooting and murder and running and hiding and more beatings and more shooting and more murder and more running and more hiding and GOD I just wanted it to END.
This is not a feel-good alien movie, people.
It was disturbing and unsettling, and I could soooo see it happening in real life. Which, okay, maybe that's what the filmmaker wanted us to feel, he wanted us to be disturbed and angry and horrified. SUCCESS!! But for god's sake if you want that reaction don't package it as a feel-good, us-vs-them alien movie. I was not prepared for what this movie was. In the beginning, I was actually considering walking out it was that brutal.
Thank god for wiggly puppies. *cuddles Dixie and Cody*
