I bought a new bed last week. Probably the only thing I was looking forward to about the move to NC, was the fact that I could finally get a bigger bed. In my bedroom at the old house I could only fit a twin bed, because I was also pretty much living in that room, not just sleeping there. I had to have room for my dresser and tv and chair and nightstand/tv stand, and a twin was the only way to accomplish that.

But now, in the new house, I have TWO rooms plus my own bathroom. I now have one room for living in, and one room for sleeping in, and it's fabulous.

So last week I finally was able to get my 'grown-up' bed - a full-sized bed! I had bought all new bedding over the past few months, because working retail has some perks and being able to stack coupons and use them with the employee discount is one of the few. Actually, it might be the only one. Anyway, it was exciting to finally be able to put all my new linens to use!

The bed is comfy, of course, and it's so nice to have room to spread out.

Of course, now I'm kind of broke, but it's worth it.

My sister took my twin mattress and bed frame for when her daughter gets older, and all my old bed linens, but not the twin box spring which was ancient. My mom commented that she hopes my sister realizes how lucky she is, because she's received so much baby stuff for free from her friends and relatives.

Anyway, new mattress, yay!!!

I finally got around to doing some decorating in the new house. I decided to start with the bathroom, since it's small and doesn't need a) bookcases (my sitting room) or b) an upgraded bed (twin to full in my bedroom). A while ago I bought a colorful shower curtain, curtain rings, and over-door hook all on clearance at work and then packed them away, because I shared a bathroom with my dad. Now I have my own bathroom!

The shower curtain, rings, and hook have been up since we moved in, but I just recently decided to start adding more color to the room.

I remembered seeing, on some HGTV show or maybe in a magazine, about taking pieces of fabric and framing them as art. So I went to the dollar store and got a bunch of cheap frames all in black. Then I hit the fabric store and bought fat quarters in colors that matched my shower curtain. I took the glass panes out of the frames, cut the fabric slightly bigger than the glass, wrapped it around the panes, taped it in place, and put it back into the frames.

Voila! )

I plan on painting one of the walls the same pale pink that's in the shower curtain, and I have some pictures from my trip to Paris that I'm going to hang in here as well.
